Tips for Painting Your Wooden Fence

Painting your wooden fence keeps it looking crisp and clean. You should paint your fence every few years as part of your regular maintenance plan. Before painting, mow your lawn and clear away any dirt and debris from the base of the fence. Wash the fence with a hose or a power washer to remove ground-in dirt. Place tape over any hardware or hinges you don’t want to paint, and check for signs of damage that may need addressing before you begin. To make your job easier, paint your fence in sections and avoid working during the hottest part of the day. Don’t paint on days when rain is predicted for the next 48 hours. Remember that painting a large fence can be a big job; if you have any back or shoulder injuries, enlist help or hire a painter to do the job rather than risking injury or strain.
